A wanted bank robber who pulled a very specific heist at Wells Fargo in Fairfax County has been apprehended weeks after targeting the branch in Burke, police say.

According to a Fairfax County Police spokesperson, on Wednesday, Feb. 14, Ahmed stole the cash and left in a getaway vehicle that was later identified by detectives and surveilled for weeks until his arrest on Thursday, Feb. 29.

Police say that the stolen getaway vehicle led investigators to Ahmed's home, and at around 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, detectives spotted the Burke resident leaving his home and he was taken into custody.

The arrest came the day before a different bank robber was arrested after heading from Fairfax into Montgomery County.

It was also the same branch that was targeted earlier this week by a robber who remains at large.

During a search of Ahmed's home, detectives recovered a two-dollar bill bundle, as well as a weapon.
